How neighborhood pickup games became a community development nonprofit
Started as informal pickup games among friends in Chicago neighborhoods. Simple community building through shared love of soccer.
Expanded to regular programming. Built Meetup community of 6,500+ members across Chicago's South and West sides.
Formalized as Illinois nonprofit corporation and launched REC 77 school partnerships. Started volunteering and partnering on events that benefit youth in our area, enhancing existing community programs.
Applied for 501(c)(3) status and began scaling operations. Expanding to 12+ CPS schools, launching art galas, and building sustainable community development infrastructure through enhanced partnerships.
